jagger, madonna, beyonce, bieber:  Setting the stage for each generation to shine

As has become crystal clear to most associations, supporting and aligning a multigenerational membership is becoming ever more complex every day.  We now have five generations in the workforce which means our membership base consists of individuals with very unique and different needs, wants and past professional experiences.

This is not your typical generational program, but one that leverages late-breaking research on generational preferences, and dispels stereotypes and preconceptions that are no longer relevant. This course goes way beyond the “what” and examines the “how” to assure generations in the workforce do well together and begin understanding how to build products and services for a multi-generational customer base. All set within the context of rock and roll. One of TLS’s most popular courses!

This program will also unveil strategies designed to both unify the generations in your organization and to provide time to think strategically about how to work within the organization. You will also learn about how to provide products and services that speak to your multigenerational customer base.

Debra Zabloudil is a chiropractic daughter! Her father was one of the founders of NBCE and she spent her childhood attending conventions and events for chiropractic! how auto insurers are claiming
chiropractors are fraudulently billing!

You will want to join nationally known expert, Andrew Baratta, Esq. for a history of how, over the past two decades, the insurance industry has utilized fraud accusations as a means of driving down claim values and expenses. Auto insurers are exploiting prejudices and stereotypes to devalue certain chiropractic claims by injecting the specter of fraud whenever possible. The insurers have invented a whole new definition of “fraud” so they can treat all chiropractic care as fraudulent. Every chiropractor in the country who treats auto accident patients is vulnerable to the use of this expanding fraud framework. Mr. Baratta will explain the steps doctors can take to protect themselves and their patients.

Andy is nationally recognized as a leading advocate for medical providers who find themselves victimized by insurance companies determined not to pay for their services.

Over the past 15 years, Andy has aggressively fought and beaten the insurance companies, and exposed these illicit schemes on behalf of scores of doctors, their employees, and their families.

Dr. Heidi Haavik

The Neuroplasticity Model of Chiropractic Care;
A Brief Introduction

Sponsored by

Recent scientific studies are revealing a new understanding about how spinal adjustments work. Heidi Haavik, a chiropractor and PhD trained neurophysiologist has spent the past 16 years studying the changes that occur in the brain when chiropractors adjust chiropractic subluxations. The original theories were based on the idea that dysfunctional spinal segments were ‘out of place’, or misaligned, and that this put pressure on the nerves exiting the spine. We now know that this theory is not really the best way to describe what a chiropractic subluxation is. The original theories were based on the idea that an adjustment relieved pressure off the squashed nerves. We now also know this is not the best way to describe the neurophysiological effects of an adjustment. Today, over a hundred years on from that ‘first’ chiropractic adjustment, we know much more about how the brain and the rest of the central nervous system functions. Dr Heidi Haavik will share with you a summary of where we are at with the neurophysiological understanding of the impact of spinal function on brain function, and will discuss what future implications this has for us as a profession.

Dr Heidi Haavik is a chiropractor and a neurophysiologist who has worked in the area of human neurophysiology for over 15 years. Heidi has a PhD in human neurophysiology from the University of Auckland. Dr Haavik is the Director of Research at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic where she has established the Centre for Chiropractic Research. marketing the results

Sponsored by

Building value for patients depends on results, and how to communicate these results are paramount to future success. This can be achieved by targeted chiropractic messaging as key component to helping all Americans avoid prescription painkillers! Patients need improved access to chiropractic care as the first-line, drug-free approach to manage back, neck and musculoskeletal pain. Never before in this nation’s history has such a crisis permeated every community.

Our profession is well-positioned to capture the attention and confidence of consumers, physician referrers, health plan decision-makers and legislative influencers as the leading alternative to prescription opioids. Our focus on wellness and helping people to achieve a pain-free lifestyle -- as they reduce their utilization of opioids – is more important than ever..

It’s a compelling chance for the United States health care system, payers, employers -- and most importantly patients -- to resolve the issues surrounding pain at lower costs, with improved outcomes and without drugs or surgery.

Now is the time to maximize the media opportunities and content that will elevate our message to many who still do not understand the benefits and cost effectiveness that chiropractic can offer. From corporate boardrooms to Sports locker rooms, the Chiropractic message is about to achieve the greatest visibility in history.

Our State Associations and Doctors are being armed with Foundation material to create increased media presence and education.

Sherry McAllister, DC, M.S. (Ed) CCSP, serves as the Executive Vice President for the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, the national not-for- profit organization creating positive press for Chiropractic.

Dr. McAllister earned her Masters in Education from the University of California East Bay and is a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic West, where she served as an Associate Professor. THE FUTURE OF CHIROPRACTIC

Sponsored by

It's tougher today for chiropractors than it was just a few years ago. The new chiropractor - future of our profession - has never needed more help just to survive.

At the same time, busy successful chiropractors can scarcely find the time to enjoy their success. Golden handcuffs are still handcuffs.

These two challenges produce a tremendous opportunity for clinic owners and associates alike if the clinic owner understands the Win Win Associate Development System.

Dr. Noel Lloyd of Five Star Management and author of The Chiropractor's Guide, explains how to create solid long term Win Win Associateships that produce successful chiropractors for the future of the chiropractic profession.

The Win Win Associate Development System combines smart proven business principles with mentorship and apprenticeship concepts that produce more than enough success for clinic director and associate AND future state association member

What DCs Need to Know about Multidisciplinary Practice

Sponsored by

Just as multidisciplinary practice has increased in popularity over the last few years, a troubling trend has occurred. More and more chiropractors are undertaking the conversion of their chiropractic practices into multidisciplinary practices without the legal and managerial assistance of professionals experienced in this highly regulated area. In a recent survey performed by Chiropractic Economics, 28.7% of chiropractors responded that they practice in a multidisciplinary setting. Only 24.7% of these reported that they worked with a practice-management/consulting group. This is called winging it.  On a positive note, the Chiropractic Economics survey reported that multidisciplinary practices had 61% higher billings, 48% higher collections and earned 81% higher salary than solo chiropractic practices. With the proper guidance, multidisciplinary practice can be an excellent practice model. In this session you’ll learn what chiropractors need to know when considering multidisciplinary practice.

Dr. Mark Sanna is CEO of Breakthrough Coaching, where he provides practice management services to chiropractic and multidisciplinary practices nationwide, directs a national team of professional consultants, and produces more than 240 professional seminars annually. A 1987 graduate of New York Chiropractic College, he received Presidential Awards from the ACA in 2014, 2013, and 2003. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, the national organization dedicated to generating positive press for the profession. He also serves as Chairman of the Chiropractic Summit Finance & Personal and Professional Development Committees, a member of the ACA Membership Executive Committee, and a member of the ACA’s Governors Advisory Board.

THE OPIOID CRISIS AND THE CHIROPRACTOR 2.0

Sponsored by F4CP

In 2016 the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress explored the opportunities for the chiropractic profession within the nation’s opioid crisis. In the last year the crisis has grown in proportion and impact to the point where it has been labeled the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) “biggest crisis” and calls for opioids to be identified as a “national emergency” in an interim White House Commission report released on July 31, 2017. In 2016 F4CP advised of daily U.S. overdose death rates of 78 persons. The current number places the carnage at 142 individuals dying per day from this scourge.

The magnitude of the crisis, combined with calls from every sector of national health policy, for increased emphasis and reliance on non-pharmacologic approaches to pain management are setting the stage for greater acceptance of the role of the chiropractor in responding to these issues.

A range of responses spanning state, local, and individual levels will be discussed in practical and pragmatic terms offering strategies, tools, and examples of how the profession can address this life and death need.

Gerard W. Clum, D.C., a 1973 Palmer College of Chiropractic graduate has been a faculty member at Palmer College of Chiropractic, a founding faculty member at Life Chiropractic College (now Life University) and first president of Life Chiropractic College West holding office from January 1981 through January 2011.  Dr. Clum served on the board of directors or as an officer of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACC), the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE), the International Chiropractors Association (ICA), the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP), the Chiropractic Summit and the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC). He presently serves on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the F4CP and as Treasurer and  member of the Board of Directors of the Integrated Health Policy Consortium (IHPC).

Since retiring from the presidency of Life Chiropractic College West as President Emeritus he accepted an appointment as Presidential Liaison for External Affairs at Life University. He has also been appointed the Director of The Octagon, a think-tank sponsored by Life University. Dr. Clum was also recently named Director of the newly formed Center for Compassion, Integrity and Secular Ethics (CCISE) at Life University. In 2016 Dr. Clum accepted the position of Executive Director of The Rubicon Group, a collaboration of seven chiropractic educational programs from the U.S., U.K., Spain, Germany and New Zealand.
