Virginia Chiropractic Offices Equip Students to Learn and Succeed

Afton, VA – Forty chiropractic offices collected 2,719 pounds of school supplies as part of the Unified Virginia Chiropractic Association’s summer statewide drive to help enable more students to focus on learning.

“Through no fault of their own, too many students don’t have the materials they need to reach take full advantage of learning opportunities and their potential” explained Dr. Carly Swift, UVCA Public Relations Committee Chair.  “This initiative was designed to help students and their parents achieve their hopes and dreams through a healthy mind in a healthy body.”

The office collecting the highest weight in school supplies was Bowers Family Chiropractic in Fredericksburg, Virginia, run by Dr. Jeff Bowers.  Dr. Bowers’ office collected a total of 350 pounds.

The district that collected the highest overall weight in school supplies was District V-East, including the Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Williamsburg area, with a total of 715 pounds.  The top performing office in that district was Chesapeake Wellness Center in Chesapeake, Virginia, run by Dr. Mark Gutekunst, with 242 pounds of supplies collected.

Participating doctors, their staff and patients reported that the school supplies drive was a unique, easy and fun way to make a difference in the community.  For more information, contact Dr. Carly Swift, Unified VCA Public Relations Committee Chair, at or Ms. Julie K.
