COCSA District 2 State Associations attend State Association Day at National University of Health Sciences – February 16, 2017

Representatives from Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio and Iowa were all part of the State Association panel that addressed the NUHS students on February 16th, 2017 on the NUHS campus. There was productive conversation over lunch with NUHS President, Dr. Joseph P.D. Stiefel. Dr. Randy Swenson (VP for Academic Services), Dr. Christopher Arick (Assistant Dean, Chiropractic Medicine), Yesenia Maldonado, MBA (Assistant Dean of Students), and others. A campus tour took place, followed by an education session for students by Dr. Vijay Patel (Illinois Chiropractic Society Board Secretary).  Approximately 45 students attended the education session and panel session with the state associations. Students enjoyed pizza, hosted by COCSA, as they learned about the importance of belonging to their state associations as student members and beyond.

Molly Lopez, Iowa Chiropractic Society Executive Director said, "I do think this outreach is worthwhile and this is the pipeline for our association's future! My goal is to bring an Iowa DC or two along.  Regardless, I am going to these!"

Thank you to all the District 2 states that attended and a special Thanks to Marc Abla, Illinois Chiropractic Society Executive Director who took the lead on planning this successful event.

COCSA will be partnering with Palmer College on July 20, 2017 for a National State to Student Event at all three campuses across the country. Stay tuned for more details, but mark your calendars for a day at Palmer with the students on July 20th, 2017.

I just wanted to thank you all so much for taking the time out of your very busy schedules to come to NUHS and speak with our students. It was such a pleasure meeting all of you and getting to talk with you about each of your state’s initiatives. I learned quite a bit about State Associations and all that you can offer our students and our future graduates. The feedback that I’ve gotten from students has been tremendously positive- many telling me that they learned quite a bit about Sate Associations as well. I am excited to be able to point students in your direction as they come to us with professional and development questions- the resources you have and your willingness to assist students will be incredibly beneficial to all of our future DC’s. Attached you will find the photos we took in front of the NUHS seal as well as pictures below this message from the evening event. Thanks - Erin Myover-Piotrowski, Coordinator, Office of Student Services
